Some personal waffle.
Don’t feel like you need to read this page by-the-way as its just a broad snapshot about me beyond all the expected work stuff.
I don’t take myself too seriously to be fair but I guess when you are looking for people it is important to get a sense of who this person is and how they might fit in with the team.
My family comes from a mixed-race indigenous Melanesian, Danish and Irish background so I had a very complicated time growing up. In fact it was even more complicated having one side of the family with a Great Great Grandfather who was Prime Minister of Australia and the other side of the family having indigenous roots. I grew up in the middle of no-where (in fact I grew up with Steve Irwin ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ bloke) on a beautiful and wild coastline so Surfing was first real passion. Not excelling at school, that passion turned into an escape, and then into a living when I became a professional surfer and ranked in the top 100 worldwide.
Tired of touring the world (yes, you can get tired of living out of bags) and not really earning any proper money – my passion for design helped me stumble into AWARD school and I won a place in the advertising industry course. From there, I balanced college and work by working in famous Oz shops.
Work then took me to another six countries and I experienced working with very different people, cultures and ways of working that has helped me shape a very global point of view. I am more in the design and transformation world now but clients like that I can speak both marketing and product languages.
For me the point where design, brand and digital meet consumers is my personal sweet spot.
Today travel, food and design play a major role in my life.
And when kids allow – you’ll still find me in the sea whenever I can.
